Elon Musk thanked President Trump in a message on the social platform X as his term as a “special government employee” ended, closing his experience at the head of the Department for Government Efficiency (Doge), tasked with drastically reducing public spending and the federal apparatus.
“I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to fight waste,” Musk wrote, adding that “the mission of the Doge will, over time, become a way of life in public administration.”
His collaboration with the White House, limited to 130 days β the maximum duration for a temporary federal job β has concluded.
“Now, priority to work,” he added.
